"... be curious, be passionate, be scared, be excited, be daring, be challenged, be informed, be yourself. how? travel." - Black Tomato

A mantra I wholeheartedly believe in and one I try to maintain myself...

Black Tomato is a cutting-edge travel company, providing the new generation of hardened travellers with exciting and unique experiences. With an impressive list of awards under their name, they're definitely a young company to watch out for:

  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year (The British Travel Industry Awards)
  • Best Travel Website (Observer, Guardian; Guardian Unlimited Travel Awards)
  • Listed in the The Times top travel websites
  • Listed in GQ’s 100 Best Things In The World

Following that accolade, I am pleased to say that I will now be a contributing author for the Black Tomato blog. Writing about my adventures in South America and bringing these articles to life with a selection of my photographs

12 days... and I will be landing in Colombia to embark on a trip into the Amazon. I will be heading to the Otra Parte reserve and Cerva Viva reserve to live with and photograph Peruvian communities. Whilst also video-recording night monkeys.

The organisation I will be working for is called Entropika and they have just won the Whitley Award for their conservation efforts.

The courageous Dr Angela Maldonado gave up a lucrative career in business to dedicate her life to conservation. A few days later the research centre where she took the monkey before release into the wild was torched by revolutionary guerrillas. Unperturbed she went on to study biology in Britain and now works on the dangerous Colombia-Peru border to stop the removal of an estimated 4,000 wild night monkeys a year for use in biomedical experiments.

Photos to follow sometime in the future...
